Following the rescheduling of tryouts due to the recent Rotary breakdown on May 5th, some may have observed the absence of the U15B tryout from our schedule. Rest assured, this DOES NOT signify that the Orillia Hawks will not be icing a U15B team for the upcoming season. However, there are a few factors influencing our decision-making process regarding the rostering of a U15B team.
Hockey is currently experiencing a shortage of goaltenders at the U15 level, a challenge not unique to the Hawks but felt across the province. Without a goaltender, we are unable to form a team. We are committed to ensuring that every player has the opportunity to succeed, and without additional registrants who are capable goaltenders, we face a significant hurdle.
As we proceed with the U15A/BB tryouts this weekend, we anticipate gaining a clearer understanding of our numbers across all U15 categories and identifying attendees. At that juncture, we will be better positioned to make an informed decision regarding the U15B team. Presently, we are considering two possible scenarios, with the intention of fielding a U15B team if we have a sufficient number of skilled and qualified players:
