Looking Ahead to 2022/23 Season
Submitted By Blackwell on Mon 04 25, 22
Hello, Hawks!

With the 2021/22 season concluded, we're pretty excited about the next season, which essentially starts next week with tryouts for the older rep teams.  I thought it would be a good time to give everyone an update on a number of topics including;

Rep Tryouts and Registration
Annual General Meeting (May 17th)
New Website
End of Season Event
Skills Training for 2022/23
Initiatives for 2022/23

Hello, Hawks!

There is a lot to get you caught up on.  I went over many of these topics a few weeks ago, but many have updates worth knowing.  Here's what we'll get caught up on today;

Rep Tryouts and Registration
Annual General Meeting (May 17th)
New Website
End of Season Event
Skills Training for 2022/23
Initiatives for 2022/23

Rep Tryouts and Registration

We have lots of girls registered for tryouts for all 3 divisions, and would love to see even more.  If you're wondering if it's for you, register and come out and skate!

Tryout Registration is open for the 2022/23 season for the following rep divisions;

U18
U15
U13

(U11 Tryouts will be in the early fall)

We've got great coaches signed up for each division!

Please note that you'll have to choose the 2021/22 Season from the dropdown in the registration module, and that all girls must be registered (the OWHA RAMP site is a bit unclear about that)

Annual General Meeting (May 17th) - We'd love to see you there!

We will be holding our AGM on May 17th at Rotary Place, in-person.  We'll meet for refreshments in the Meeting Room at 6 PM, and commence with the meeting at 7 PM.  We'll elect in next year's executive at the meeting.

In advance of the meeting, we'll post an agenda which will include the positions that need to be filled for next season.

Running a club like this takes a lot of dedicated volunteers, and we look forward to seeing some new faces this year.

This year we will be restructuring the organization to make sure we're optimizing our communications and use of modern digital tools.  We'll be looking for some new faces to help us out!

New Website

I'm very excited to announce that our new website will be live by June 1st, 2022.  We are going with a RAMP-based site, which will integrate better with the OWHA and other clubs in the area.  It will include e-commerce (so you can pay your fees online), and modern communications systems (a great mass-emailer to keep everyone informed!)

My personal goal for the site is to make sure it has everything you need, and nothing you don't!

End of Season Event

Unfortunately, we won't be holding an end of season event this year, but will return to having a scheduled event for the entire organization next year.

Skills Training for 2022/23

If we remain clear of lockdowns, we will return in the fall to hosting Skills Training sessions for all teams.  We will begin canvasing for offers from training companies shortly, and are looking to provide every team with the following;

     1. Coaching Mentorship early in the season
     2. At least 3 sessions of skills training
     3. As much goalie skills training as we can afford
     4. Power skating for players of all ages and levels

Once we have a company booked to provide this, we'll give more details.  We just wanted to let you know that we plan to get next season off on the right foot (skate?) next year, and we aim to provide every player with the best opportunity to grow and enjoy the game!

Initiatives for 2022/23

As I mentioned in the AGM update, we'll be restructuring the organization a little differently next year, to ensure the following;

Aggressive membership drive in the fall
Maximizing our use of digital tools to make registration, scheduling, payments, and communications easier
Bench Staff and Executive relations - ensuring that everyone in the organization is supported in their duties
Communications, communications, communications

The last one seems obvious, but it's worth the emphasis.  We want to make sure that everyone in the entire organization knows what's happening and when, in a transparent and predictable fashion.

______________

That's all for today.  See you on the ice!
