Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit - Vaccination Requirements for Youth 12 -18
Submitted By Executive on Tue 11 23, 21
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has updated their vaccination requirement for indoor recreation facilities. The new requirements are:
Effective December 8, 2021, all participants over the age of 12 are required to show identification and proof of having received at least one (1) dose of a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine for any entry on or after December 8, 2021.
Effective February 16, 2022, all participants over the age of 12 are required to show identification and proof of being fully vaccinated (received two (2) doses of a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine plus 14 days ) for any entry on of after February 16, 2022.
For those who will turn 12 in 2022, there is a grace period of 12 weeks from the date of their 12th birthday, where they will still be required to show proof of identification to enter the facility, but do not need to provide proof of being fully vaccinated. This will allow a reasonable amount of time for vaccinations to be completed in accordance with the recommended 8 week interval between dose 1 and dose 2.
This means, all of your participants, over the age of 12, will be required to show proof of vaccination plus ID each time they enter a recreation facility. The ID provided does not need to include their photo, it does need to include their full name and date of birth. A photo or photocopy of their ID is acceptable.
