Season Update
Submitted By Executive on Tuesday, December 22, 2020
Recently Premier Doug Ford announced that a large portion of Ontario, including Simcoe County, would be placed in a grey lockdown zone for a minimum of 28-days starting December 26th.  I am sure many of you may have questions about how this will affect the OGHA and our plans to return to hockey in the new year. The answer is that we don't fully know yet and we won't know the exact effect of the lockdown for some time.

What we do know is that there will be no hockey while under lockdown restrictions.  The lockdown restrictions in Simcoe Muskoka will last until at least January 22nd, 2021. We expect that more information will become available in January from the Government of Ontario, Ontario Women's Hockey Association, Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit, and the City of Orillia.

The OGHA remains committed for our players to have the opportunity to play hockey again this season and will do so once it is safe for all to return and enjoy being on the ice. We have no plans at this time to end our 2020-2021 season and will “keep the doors open” as long as there is a chance that we will be permitted to play again.

We hope to have an update in the new year about our return to hockey in 2021 and what our program may look like.  On behalf of the OGHA Executive we hope your family has a safe, healthy and happy holiday season and we hope to see you on the ice in 2021.

Darrin Dunn
OGHA President
