ORILLIA HAWKS SENIOR C LADIES BRING HOME THE GOLD WINNING THE OWHA 2019 PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT

What a great weekend of hockey!  Congratulations to the ladies on a well-played series. 

The team went undefeated in the round robin games scoring:   4-3 vs the Milverton Senior C team; 5-2 vs the Embro Highlanders and tied the Waterloo Ravens 1-1.  Hard found games with a fantastic team effort:  Haylee Lawlor netted 3 goals, Mikayla Rae netted a pair and assisted with one, Laura Kennedy, Jessi Cranney, Kayla LaCroix, Jillian Armstrong, and Megan Allore each scored a goal.  Caitlin Kubiseski – credited with 3 assists in round robin play and Laura K, Danielle Jeffreys, Carly Payne, Jillian A, Crystal Ferguson and Brittney Bince each credited with an assist.   Goalies, Robin Root and Gaby Mondelli were solid in net allowing the team to move on to final games.

Quarter finals
vs. Huntsville Sting resulted in a 4 – 1 victory with Caitlin Kubiseski scoring a pair and singles scored by Haylee Lawlor and Laura Kennedy.  Goals were assisted by Jillian Armstrong, Laura Kennedy, Danielle Jeffreys and Caitlin Kubiseski .  Robin Root in net shut the competitors down by allowing only one goal.

Semi Finals vs. Stratford Aces was another victory with a score of 3-1.  Carly Payne netted a pair and Caitlin Kubiseski with a single, assisted by Kayla LaCroix, Caitlin K (2) and Haylee Lawlor.  Gaby Mondelli another amazing job in net!

GOLD MEDAL GAME vs St. Mary’s Storm ended in a 3-2 victory!

An excellent game with everyone contributing to the victory.  The first goal of the game was scored by Laura Kennedy unassisted.  Caitlin Kubiseski scored 2 goals netting the winning goal with 6:29 on the clock. The team was successful in defending against the storm and they were only able to pull their goalie with 0:42 on the clock.  Great defensive play by the team, killing a penalty assessed at 2:58 in the 3rd.   Robin Root was solid in net for the last minutes of play denying the storm the chance to go into overtime. 

Special thanks to the Team Staff, Jamie Robinson, Ron Robinson, Jeff Rae and Ken LaCroix for working with the team and helping to ensure their success at provincials.  As well as all the support of our awesome fans!

GO HAWKS GO!!!!     Amazing end to a successful weekend for our repeat GOLD Medalists, the Senior C team!
