The Watson's Kaby Lodge Bantam HL team participated in the 2018 Orangeville Tigers Sweetheart Tournament and came home with gold!

The Hawks came out flying on Friday and posted a dominant 3-0 win over the Caledon Coyotes.  Orillia continued their winning ways on Saturday with a hard fought 4-2 win over Aurora and ended the day with a 3-3 tie against the Orangville Tigers.

Sunday morning the team closed out the round robin with a 2-0 loss to the Grand River Mustangs. But both Grand River and the Hawks already qualified for the gold medal game and the Hawks would not be denied.  The game was knotted at 1-1 after regulation and two three minute overtime periods where the teams played 4 on 4 and 3 on 3.

Heading into the shootout, the Hawks were without their first shooter, Hailey Steels, who suffered an ankle injury during the game.  The first three Hawks shooters were all denied but shooters four and five, Rosa Cicinelli and Ella Copegog both found the back of the net as Hawks goaltender, Ellah Plue turned away all five of Grand River's shooters.

Great job girls!!!
