Hometown Hockey
Submitted By Darrin Dunn on Tuesday, November 7, 2017
Roger's Hometown Hockey rolled into Orillia this past weekend and what a great event it was!!!

The Orillia Hawks were well represented through out the weekend.

The weekend kicked off with a great surprise for The Orillia Girls Hockey Association as Vice President Darrin Dunn received a $4000 cheque from Scotiabank.  Thank you to Greg Parker and all the wonderful staff at our local branches for this generous donation.

Sunday was the big day of the broadcast and the Parade of Champions and another great day for the Hawks.  First off the Parade of Champions kicked off the live broadcast and the parade was filled with Hawks leading the way.  Then we were all treated to a very special segment on Hometown Hockey that featured our very own Atom LL/HL coach, Nathalie Rivard.  This brought a spotlight to our organization and was very well done, thank you Nat!!!

Every time the camera scanned the crowd there were plenty of Hawks jerseys throughout the crowd, and the Roger's crew constantly commented about how many girls were in attendance.

And it didn't stop there.  Andrea Jackson, goaltender for the Hawks Bantam B team, was selected to help Ron and Tara announce the Three Stars from the Montreal vs Chicago game.  Andrea did a fantastic job as a representative for the Hawks organization.

Throughout the weekend the Hawks partnered with the Predators and Terriers and ran a BBQ that will benefit the Orillia Food Bank and the Orillia Chapter of the Special Olympics.  Thank you to Hawks volunteers for your hard work, we are happy to say we have raised $1846.20 for these charities.

And a huge thank you to the following businesses & individuals for their generous donations to make this BBQ possible:  Leadbetters Foods Inc, Gordon Food Services, Investors Group, Jason's No Frills, Pepsico, Kevin Crowther, Mike Borrelli and Perry Fell and Shawn Hewlett from the Orillia Shrine Club
