ORILLIA HAWKS SENIOR C LADIES HOCKEY TEAM BRINGS HOME THE SILVER MEDAL FROM OWHA  2016-2017 PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT. What a great week-end of hockey!  Congratulations to the ladies on a well-played series.

The team went undefeated in the round robin games scoring:   5-1 vs the West Northumberland Wild; 6-1 vs the Brampton Cougars and 1-0 vs the Exeter Squirrels.  Truly a team effort:  Jasper Thomson credited with 10 points; team Captain Danielle Jeffreys earning 7 points; Carly Marshall 6 points;  4 points to Cora Shilling, Brittney Bince, Kayla LaCroix; 3 points awarded to Stephanie Oates, Carly Turner, Crystal Ferguson, Mikayla Rae and Jessi Cranney.  As well as 2 points credited to Laura Kennedy and 1 point going to Betsy Maus.  Goalies, Robin Root and Gaby Mondelli, shutdown the competitors allowing only 1 goal each during round robin play.

Quarterfinals vs. Barrie Sharks resulted in a 1 – 0 victory with Jessi Cranney scoring the only goal assisted by Jasper Thomson, Gaby Mondelli in net.
Semifinals vs. Milverton Seniors resulted in a 2 – 1 victory with Kayla LaCroix scoring unassisted and Danielle Jeffreys scoring assisted by Crystal Ferguson, Robin Root in net.
GOLD MEDAL GAME vs Parkhill Senior Ladies Team ended in a 4-2 loss.  The score does not tell the whole story.  The ladies worked intensely to bring the game into a 3-2 score with several post shots and near misses.  With the clock counting down and the Hawks working shorthanded Parkhill was able to score the 4th goal on an empty net.  A very satisfying game with the 2 goals scored credited to Brittney Bince and Jasper Thomson assisted by Danielle Jeffreys, Carly Marshall and Betsy Maus.  An outstanding effort by Gaby Mondelli in net keeping the opposition down to 3 goals. Special thanks to Coaches, Jamie Robinson, Ron Robinson and Robin Root for working with the team and helping to ensure their success at provincials.
GO HAWKS GO!!!!     Amazing end to a successful weekend for our Silver Medalists, the Senior C team!
